The Communication Hub

At its launch AtC operated from WMS’s call centre in Chippenham Community Hospital. It rapidly became clear that the combined service had outgrown the available space and technical infrastructure; a decision to move premises was inevitable.

A new call centre has been developed at Greenways Park in Chippenham.  This centre provides the appropriate working conditions to develop a modern communications hub to support the PCT’s Reforming Community Services programme.

AtC uses Adastra as its IT system: this is used extensively in urgent care settings to distribute calls throughout the health community. The Adastra system is used and managed by WMS during the out of hours period; utilising it during the daytimes to run AtC ensures maximal use of this resource.

Adastra worked closely with WMS to refine their product to the requirements of AtC. During the pilot phase we will continue to fine tune the software requirements with Adastra and to develop interoperability with other IT systems used in the community.

  • We will shortly become the beta site for the integration of eCMS into Adastra
  • Calls are being distributed to Neighbourhood Teams via Adastra.
  • Referrals made by health professionals from this website will be integrated with Adastra thereby allowing the information to self-populate the patient record in Adastra
  • Future interoperability objectives will be explores with partner organisations such as the ambulance service, A&E and Acute Trusts
